Does anyone know where I can find a Photography Internship?

I'm going to be a Senior in highschool this year, and I'm trying to go to an Art school for photography when I graduate.
Does anyone know of any photography internships that I could do this year before I graduate?
I live in baton rouge, la. The internship does not have to be in La.

Go to a studio. Do some research online in your local area that fits the kind of images you want to capture. Then go to the places and tell them your PASSION!! Keyword there.. Passion!!! Tell them you want to learn about everything! If they are a good studio, most of the time they will use reflectors or external lighting. Tell them you would love to perfect your skills & interactions and that you would love to be a lighting assistant. Then you can shadow them for a few times and slowly ask them to teach you more.

A few reasons this will work. Most photographers, if they shoot alone, would give their left arm for an assistant to help hold lights, reflectors, help with posing etc. It leave them those split seconds of time to use their creativity and having a second hand with equipment is ALWAYS handy!!! This will allow you to learn hands on and MOST IMPORTANTLY - LIGHTING!!! It will make or break you in photography. Also, this helps with Posing TREMENDOUSLY!

Most of the time studios might hesitate with a money issue.. so.. if I were you I would use it as a supplimental income. So ask for a minimum amount.. This benefits both them and you. You for the experience and immediate future job opportunities (they will pick you first - could be anything from shooting or editing) and they are building a relationship with someone that might be beneficial to them later. Also, they will be able to mold you and show you the photography they like to capture and then you can add your uniqueness to it also.

Remember, if they don't want to pay you.. remind them that this was just your first stop and that they are missing out by not giving you a chance (say it in a nice way). Remember - PASSION is key! Most photographers get excited when they see someone that shares their same passion.
