photoshop elements 7?
Hi i am using the trial version of elements 7, i am totally green with photography and editing which is why i thought i would try playing around with this before i bought it. I am having a few probs which is totally me i am sure!!
Firstly, if i edited a photos layer or to mkae it sepia or old fashioned photo style, when i save it to my photos in windows, i cant view it normally from there ther is just a pse logo and if i double click it it opens up photoshop and aloows me to view it from there!! ahhhh!! why is this. I see the layer were locked so i unlocked them and still no help!
Also, is there some tool or effect that more accuratly fades out the background of a photo more dramatically than the fade brush, i was there for ages with that brush and was still no where near faded/bluury enough to make the photo atmospheric like i wanted.
Thanks =)
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean exactly by fade. I haven't used the fade brush before. Though your other issue seems easy enough to rectify.
You're saving it in Elements' native format, right? I assume so, if it has the logo, and you're able to see the layers when you open it again. Save it in TIFF, PNG, BMP, JPEG (blech), or something else widely used to share photos. Bitmaps are huge, and JPEGs re-compress every time you save them, which is just stupid. PNG has been my choice as of late.
Also, if all your pictures are opening in PSE when you double-click them, just change the default program by which to open your files. Right-click your image file, choose Open With, and then "all programs." Or more programs, or additional programs...The last choice on the list. I don't remember what it's called. Then when you find Windows Picture and Fax Viewer on the list, click it and check the box that says "always use this program to open this type of file." Click OK and whatever format the image was in, that format will open with that program. Unless another program decides to take over the filetype when you install it. That can get annoying.
