Photography Critique

Concert Photography Critique?
I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to critique my concert photography. Be as harsh as you like.

I am 15 (16 next month) years old and I started shooting concerts in March this year, I have done 7 so far. This set is a group of photos that I took form spending the day with a band called Grape Soda, they played three gigs and we did some band portraits in between.
Thanks
Peet
@Sagara, I think its motion blur since the collar is sharp and on the same plane as the face. Is there anything else that makes you think its a focus issue.
You need to have a clearer picture about what you want to try to achieve. A lot of the pictures, you barely know they are in a real band or just a bunch of kids mucking about.
You need to get more involved with the band. What makes them so special? And create a picture that communicates what hte band is about. You have to get more involved.
A lot of your pictures, are you standing back and letting the band do their thing. This is not an effective way to shoot a band properly. The method you are using, would be no different from using a kodak point and shoot. here are some general tips I think you may find helpful.
1) get closer to the subject so you can try more tramatic angles
2) get a better idea what you want to achieve and communicate with the picture.
Rohan @ Jugglers 2
- the picture is out of focus (technique)
- i'm thinking if this guy is singing in a karaoke bar (above points)
- very unique background (thumbs up)
- I don't know if they are in a band
- you need better light to fill in the shadow detail (technique - off camera flash + umbrellas)
Nice city view from the Edge
- regarding above comments: you can get the band to play closer to each other. The shadow area really seperates the band from each other; as if they are fighting over the same girl and aren't talking to each other. You need to direct them how to move to get the creative shot.
- it is a very good concept to incorporate the skyline. Despite this the band ought to be the main focus. Yet they are scattered like bread crumbs read to be picked off by hovering birds.
