My web designer gave me a $2500 price? Is this reasonable for this kind of site?
My web designer gave me a price quote of $2500, saying give and take a few hundred dollars after he finds out more about my requirements.
I run a photography firm of 5 photographers. We just opened a small shop in a new town and I told him I wanted an image gallery on the site as well as eCommerce. We will be selling paintings and jewerly in an online shop. We do not have a website and he will be building everything from scratch.
Does $2500 sound reasonable? I got somebody telling me they'd do it for $800 on Craigslist. But the 2500 guy's resume is definitely a power-resume...he's really good. So did I get a fair price, did I get more for my money, or did I get sniped out of my wallet?

Think about it this way, your business will be hurt by having a bad website. After all it is a visual business! It is though allot of money so really do see what other websites this person has done. If those are great then yes $2500 is worth greatness. See it as a long term investment.
Always see what they already have made to see if it is worth it. And most important ensure that the rights are so that if things go bad you own the website and domain. It must be under your control. Because nothing is as bad as having the designer hold your business hostage so to say.
