Photography Gcse

I want to take gcse photography in yr 10 next year any tips on making a good portolio for next month?
well we're choosing out gcse's this year and i want to take up photography problem is there are only 8 places so theres a lot of competiton. we have to make a portfolio and i was wondering if anyone could give me tips?
I put my college one together recently so I know what this is like (=
firstly look through what you have and pick what stands out, for whatever reason; try and choose unusual things (though if you have a really fantastic sunset shot, out it in!!), things with good composition or really nice colours together, or perhaps the capture of a unique & fleeting moment like someones expression.
They don't have to be proffessional quality, that's not the point, just different. Have a sparkle =)
And always remember: Quality NOT Quantity!! (=
The main thing is to demonstrate your interest and potential and show that you want to learn & improve.
Also, if you have experimented with film cameras or pinhole photography or photo manipulation make sure you put that in too!
PLUS have a look at some famous photographers you like and maybe try emulating some of their shots//shooting in their style// or just get inspired by them for your own project, like a portarit of a friend. And don't forget to play with lighting
GOOD LUCK!!
