Photography Magazine Subscription
Please can somebody give me advice?
Hey,
I'm a 14 year old girl from the UK. I am really interested in photography, I like looking at photos ect., i have subscriptions to photography magazines, have numerous books ect. I don't claim in any way to be a photographer though. Well, I would love to go in to a media based career, maybe in photography? I have an Olympus e420 but I don't really get out enough to take many photos, I know it isn't an excuse but I find it hard because i live in a boring place and am too young to travel long distances ect. There aren't any clubs in my school, and nobody I know knows anything about photography. My question is, how do I get further in taking pictures ect? What should I do in order to broaden my skills, because I find it hard to do anything because I have nobody to ask for advice, and it's not the same looking at advice on a screen. Also, are there any essential accessories I should get to help me?

Let me correct you in one glaring instance. When a photographer can't find anything interesting to shoot, it's not because she lives in a boring place. It comes from a lack of imagination. You can take a picture of literally anything. Your Mom made a meal that you like. Take a picture of it. You have friends, siblings? Take their pictures. Develop a critical eye. If your shot is not a work of art, figure out how to make it so. Answering this challenge will foster your growth as a photographer.
No photo club in your school? Form one.
I can't believe that there's a place in the UK where there is no photography club for kilometers around. Walk into the nearest photo studio and ask somebody where the nearest club is. See if you can beg a ride from your parents to their meetings.
Every major brand of camera has an on-line community of photographers. I am a Canon shooter and I use one for Canon. Owners of Olympus cameras have http://myolympus.org . How did I know that? I did a Google search on "forums for olympus owners". It was the third link on the first page. Join it. Post your best stuff and ask for tips.
