How can I become one of the great film directors?
im going to study photography at college but this is the only oppourtunity they offer not film studies. So wot after that? im puttin a short film on youtube soon as i like doing shorts so ppl donate so money goes to charity. I luv stanley kubrick n spielberg n gibson i luv epics like gibson's passion I know ive got the soul n the vision to make powerful films I know i cud be amazing at it I hope anyway I luv photography n working on cinematography in evry bit of my short films I'd luv to be a big director though im from england cud make it like ridley scott

You'll have to start from the bottom I expect. Try to make as many friends as you can as that will give you more contacts and opportunities in the film industry.
You might also want to consider sending off your short film to various film production companies and don't be ashamed to start of for a pretty rotten company- you have to start somewhere and companies are going to want to see on-the-job experience.
I would consider going to uni to further your film studies. A degree in some kind of directing would probably be a great help. While you are at uni, try to contact various filming companies so that you can start working as soon as you have your degree. The last thing you want is to have a degree and be out of work. Keep chasing up the film companies and consider keep trying even if you get a "no".
