Photography Standards

photography standards
I am about to start a photography business but I need equipments and Prices?

The photography business is going to be for graduation days initially, taking portrait photographs. I would want to print the photographs on the day to a high standard.

Can you give me your suggestion for all the necessary types of equipments I need and also the best type of Printing equipment that can print different types of sizes of Photos taken and that will have both quality and speed

I will have to agree with the trend of this thread and say the questions your asking show you haven't done any of YOUR homework and haven't a clue as to what is needed or going on.

Have you ever watched a event photographer and looked at the equipment seen, and the work flow..?

To start from scratch, assuming you have nothing, you will need a few thousand dollars (at a minimum) worth of equipment.

You don't get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression.

The name brand of the equipment IS somewhat important, and there are a few notable name brands out there. You WILL need more than 1 printer, maybe 3 if your busy. You will also want more than 1 memory card for the more than 1 camera too, because to NOT have a back up camera would be ludicrous. You will want x-tra batteries for the cameras and maybe a spare lens or two as well.

Will the printers be stand alone and have card slots in them or will they be hooked to computers..? Laptops for each printer..? or stand alone printers..? Which printing program if using computers. If stand alone printers, which ones have "print packages" built in you want and can use..? These are just SOME of the questions.

Do you see $$$$ piling up yet..? A heck of an investment for a once a year deal..

Lighting..? Hot lights or flashes..? How many..? 2, 3..? (backups here too). What about back drops, stands for it. Will you have the room to set all this equipment up..? Tables. Power cords and fused outlet boxes.. Transportation, helpers to print as you shoot. Liability insurance in case someone trips on all these cords running around. Get the picture yet..?

Oh, and don't forget the forms, papers to be filled out by the customers, a cash register and a way to take plastic as a form of payment. Model releases..? You WILL need to have some previous work showing to promote your ability, right..? To do this you will need permission from past shoots. I'm sure there are a gazillion other nit picking items I haven't covered here either..

If you planned to make this a 1 man show, good luck, you will need it..
