Photography Textures

First photography job- Food. Advice?
I am a photography student and I've been asked to photograph some images for a website. Images will replace these thumbnails... http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j122/mazwinchester/tea.jpg
The job is to photograph a plate/bowl of herbs (tea). The client would like closer images of the herb in order to show the different colours and textures etc..
This would be my first photography job (ever) and I was looking for some advice.
I am using a Canon 400D (or Rebel X-Ti) and have an 18-55mm, and 75-300mm lens. As I am still only a student, I do not have any "photographic" lighting equipment yet.
ANY help would really up my confidence!
have a look at some of the tips on here

TBH without some decent lighting equipment you are going to struggle as food photography or any "product" shots rely on good lighting.
You can try with natural light and reflectors though.
