Senior project ideas involving photography?

I have to do a senior project on photography. The project requires a argumentative paper and a actual project the relates to the thesis.
Do you have any ideas that I can do it on?

Thanks,

Finn

I had a friend who was a great photographer in Paris some years ago. Gilles Terrier. He had a really neat technique for renewing his view of things. He'd put a wider-angle lens on his camera -- 35mm, I think it was, and then go out roaming the streets shooting from the hip when he saw something interesting by approximating the distance without looking through the lens. If he walked for as much as 15 minutes without shooting, he'd stop and shoot toward the four points of the compass, once again without looking into the camera.

Getting home, he'd make up a contact sheet. He said that studying the images made it so he saw ways of framing and choices of subject that he normally would not have chosen, and so improve and renew his vision.

Doing this yourself, along with the "whys" and "hows" of this technique might make an interesting paper, I think, and along with the contacts and some prints -- maybe some comparisons with your previous work could be included, too, if doing that seems to enhance the thesis. In all, it could make for an interesting and original presentation. Good luck!
