Whats a good, affordable film camera to use for college Photography Classes?

I'm planning on getting my degree in photography. I need a film camera for several classes I'm taking in the fall.

Hi, everyone mentions the Pentax K1000 as the "student's choice" but to be honest the only thing that drives choice is the price and availability of lens, at least for me. You have two options - a manual or automatic SLR. Manual will help you learn the theory, but an automatic will give you a better oppurtunity to capture a shot quickly and accurately. Manual SLRs are quite cheap for beginners and I can't see any harm in starting there. Make sure it is fully manual - that it allows you to choose both shutter speed and aperture values any way you wish. A Pentax MX is quite a popular model and affordable if you are a brand-follower. Nikon wise, Anything in the F or FM series, however these are usually at £100 and up for body only. Some of my colleagues have claimed that Canon provides the widest range of lenses for 35mm SLR cameras and at the cheapest market value, so it may be worth checking out something silmilar. Personally I don't bother with them, it seems everyone brags about having one. But that's just me. Contax-Yashica and Fujica are also good consumer-level brands from the 70s and 80s that offer robust bodywork and reliability at a much cheaper price.
