Is it possible to hook up a security camera outside to a laptop inside via WiFi?

My Fiance and I have had our car broken into a few times no matter whether its locked away behind gates or not and we have been to the police who have been no help and we are wondering about a security system that can be set up outside that will connect with a laptop via WiFi inside, which will automatically record if a motion sensor is tripped within the car. Is it possible to set something up like this and what would be needed to do so.

Yes of course and if you know basics of how to setup a normal router, then it is easy to configure. wifi video cams normally come with software to manage the cameras - store to file for example, switch between multiple cameras, etc
