what is the best backdrop for a photography studio?
I am setting up a studio in my house and would like to know your opinions/advice on the best backdrop material? I have looked into muslin, paper and vinyl. Which is the most professional looking? I am only going to use one black and one white as its for babies and children. Thanks
also i have carpeted floor, would paper not be suitable?
Perki's pretty much nailed it. I use mostly muslin (needs ironing with a garment steamer before use if I want it wrinkle free). Occasionally use vinyl & have used paper.
What you need to remember with vinyl & paper is that if you intend to dismantle the backdrop & store the rolls then they have to be stored upright, so you need the height. If you store them lying on the floor, the weight of them will cause compression & you end up with a regular crease across them when you unroll again.
Also consider using a 18% grey - you can light it 1-2 stops over to get white, 3 stops under & its black plus its easy to gel any colour.

Photographs & Memories repackages some of his best work. Romantic acoustic-oriented songs were his hallmark, and songs like "Time in a Bottle," were huge hits because of their easy sentimentality. "I Got a Name" was the singer as well-worn folk traveler, while "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and even "You Don't Mess Aro... |

Photo Album $9.44 Death Cab for Cutie turn difficult personal issues into literary rock songs while straddling the narrow line between blissful pop and driving indie rock. The Northwest act's songs soar high like Built to Spill's or Beulah's, and almost every track on The Photo Album is as musically bouncy and upbeat as the best of those bands. As catchy as the songs on The Photo Album may be, though, it's really f... |
